The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initiated the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over initiative in an attempt to stop the thousands of injuries and deaths caused by drunk drivers every year. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving a person is injured by a drunk driver every two minutes. In 2015, over 10,000 people died from accidents involving drunk drivers. In Texas, 2% of adults reported driving under the influence of alcohol. Driving is something most people do every day, but it’s important to remember that it is a very serious and dangerous task.
For a lot of people, summer is a time for road trips, vacations, and weekends with friends and family. If you plan on drinking at all, whether it’s one beer or seven, always have a designated driver. Even just a little alcohol can impair your ability to drive.
